Producer Pick List

A Producer’s desk is a magnet for writers’ unproduced scripts. Piles and piles of scripts accumulate, sent to the Producer by agents, writers, friends, and investors. For Broadway Producer Ken Davenport, “the process is a bit like panning for gold,” Ken writes in an announcement earlier this year, “We do get a lot of good, solid nuggets. The problem is? I can’t produce everything…”

A few years ago, Davenport decided to do something to highlight the best scripts from that pile on his desk. When he announced the project, he explained, “First, like I said, we get some good stuff. Some really good stuff. And I don’t know about you, but when I see something or read something good, I just want to tell everyone about it. And second, just because we can’t produce this really good stuff, doesn’t mean someone else wouldn’t want to.”

Thus was born The Producer Pick List, to highlight the 10 Best Plays or Musicals they read in the previous year which Davenport’s company is not going to pick up, for one reason or another. Earlier this year, Davenport announced the Producers Pick List for 2019, and Meet Your Mountain is featured on the List.
